- I sleep on it : 하룻밤 동안 생각해본다. 

   : probably didn't sleep and thought about something. 

- why don't you sleep on it? : 한 번 시간을 두고 하루 정도 생각해보는 건 어때?

I didn't sleep so well myself. 

이 경우에는, on이 없으므로 잠을 못 잤다.

 

- 잠을 못 잤다에 대한 표현으로 내가 좋아하는 것은 

 

* I couldn't sleep a wink  (last night) 

* I couldn't get a wink of sleep (last night) 

 

정말 잠을 못 잤다라는 느낌으로 A bit of sleep, the smallest amount of sleep 의 의미다.

- think over something : 무엇에 대해서 신중하게 생각해보다.

한국말로, 너 키랑 나머지 다 챙겼어? 라고 말하듯이 영어에서는 all that으로 "나머지 다"의 의미를 강조한다. 

영화 인턴에서는 아래의 문장이 쓰였는데, 이 부분도 잘못된 방향/길에 대한 것들을 강조하는데 쓰였다. 

 

You were giving me the wrong directions and all that (강조)? 

 

- Did you bring the contract and all that?

Watch 와 show는 뒤에 to를 생략한다. 

 

I watched him to go, then went home. 

- he showed a picture to her / he showed her a picture.

늘, a success 는 성공이라는 단어로 쓰이는 것은 아니다. 

 

I knew (확신) then that was why AFT was a success. 

 

- a success : a person/ company that makes a success. 성공한 사람 & 기업 

- a  success : 성공 

 

success의 동사는 to succeed /səkˈsiːd/

succeeded person 은 성공한 사람으로 adjective로 사용가능하다. 

혹은

In the weeks that succeeded, five more paitents showed similar symtoms처럼

"to come after another person or thing in time"의 의미로 사용되기도 한다.

commitment (to do sth / to sth) | to commit ( to do sth / to doing sth) 

 

No one else is ever gonna have that kind of commitment to your company. 

- a lot of money has been committed to this project

- she wants to get married, but he isn't sure he wants to commit.
